We hosted a Christmas party at the Bincho yakitori restaurant in Soho at 2pm on Saturday, 12th December 2009. Afterwards, we indulged in a spot of karaoke and then enjoyed a few drinks in a nearby pub.

We returned to the Water Poet pub on Friday, 28th August 2009 for an evening of barbequed food and drinks. Around twenty members attended and the food was delicious.

Summer Outing

Our annual outing, this year to Brighton, took place on Saturday, 18th July. We enjoyed the beach while the sun lasted, had some traditional fish and chips and then split up to explore the city, go shopping or see attractions such as the Brighton Pavillion, before settling down in a local pub for the evening.

Restaurant Night

The conversation group held a Restaurant Night at the delightful izakaya-style restuarant Asakusa in Mornington Crescent. We met from 7pm in The Crescent pub across the road from the station in time to proceed to the restaurant by 8pm. It was an excellent evening.

Early February saw London grind to a halt in the severest snowstorm seen in eighteen years, so the event ran in a scaled-down format. The twenty or so members who were able to make it along relaxed in a circle around some tables and enjoyed conversation over a small buffet.

As is traditional, our first meeting of the year took place on the second Tuesday to allow time for attendees to recover after the Christmas holidays. We had a good showing and spirits were high as several members looked forward to seeing in the new year with a spot of karaoke later in the week.
